The Interactive Scene Hub (Codex)

The Scene Hub is one of Lidarion’s crown jewels: a gorgeous, full-featured campaign atlas and regional codex that turns static hex coordinates into living lore entries, encounter tables, and battlemap transitions.

1. Accessing the Scene Hub

You can open the Scene Hub in multiple convenient ways:

  • Canvas Click: Click on any territory or location on your map when using the selection tool.
  • Left Toolbar Tool: Click “Lidarion - Tools” () → “Scene Hub” () to open the hub for the active scene.
  • Dashboard Button: Click the Hub icon next to any territory in the Hex Regions & Locations dashboard.

2. Interactive Artwork Banner

Every region and location can be personalized with a wide, cinematic artwork banner:

  • Upload Artwork: Click the banner image button to select an illustration, landscape concept art, or coat of arms.
  • Interactive Pan & Zoom:
    • Click “Adjust Image”: Drag your mouse to position the illustration vertically or horizontally.
    • Scroll your mouse wheel to zoom in or out until the composition is framed perfectly.
    • Click “Lock Image” to freeze the framing.
  • Full-Screen View: Click the expand icon to view the banner art in high-resolution full size.

3. Notes & Lore Editor

The center of the Hub is a rich-text workspace for world-building:

  • Rich Formatting: Full support for markdown, headings (H1, H2, H3), bulleted lists, blockquotes, and tables.
  • Auto-Save Toggle: Edits are automatically saved in real-time as you write (Auto-saved indicator).
  • Dynamic Table of Contents:
    • On the left side of the hub, an expandable Table of Contents (TOC) automatically parses your headings (H1, H2, H3) and creates clickable jump-links for instant navigation through long articles.

4. Linked Scene (Overland-to-Battlemap Transitions)

You can link any tactical battlemap, city map, or dungeon level directly to a location on your hexmap:

  1. Locate the target scene in Foundry’s standard Scenes directory.
  2. Drag the scene card and drop it onto the “Drop scene here to link” slot in the Hub.
  3. Once linked:
    • Left-Click “View Map”: Immediately transitions your GM canvas to that battlemap.
    • Right-Click Menu: Allows you to Activate Scene directly for players or open the Scene Configuration sheet.

5. Linked Documents Binder

Bring all your campaign prep together by associating relevant Foundry documents with each territory:

Supported Document Types

  • Actors: Regional rulers, quest-givers, wandering monsters, bandit warbands, and dungeon bosses.
  • Items: Quest artifacts, magical loot, regional trade commodities, or special herbs found in this biome.
  • Journals: Lore handouts, historical texts, rumors, and investigation clues.
  • Roll Tables: Regional random encounter tables, weather rolls, or foraging tables.
  • Card Stacks: Mystery cards, fate decks, or hazard cards.
  • Simply drag any Actor, Item, Journal, or RollTable from Foundry’s sidebars and drop it into the Hub’s document dropzone.
  • Documents are automatically organized into clean, collapsible categories with count badges.
  • Left-Click: Instantly opens the document sheet.
  • Right-Click: Allows you to unlink the document or configure player ownership permissions.

6. Navigation & Safe Archiving

  • Favorites Bookmarking: Click the star icon () at the top of any Hub entry to bookmark it in your favorites drawer.
  • Browser-Style History Navigation: Use the Back () and Forward () buttons to step through territories you have recently viewed.
  • Protected Journal Storage:
    • All hub notes, banner settings, and linked documents are automatically mirrored to a dedicated Foundry Journal Entry: {Scene Name} (Hexmap Hub).
    • This guarantees that your world-building data is safe, backed up, and seamlessly exportable with your Foundry world.
